Golf
The Algarve is famous for its wonderful
golf courses and is an élite and favoured destination for golfers world-wide. There
are several top quality courses within very easy reach
of Tavira and Cabanas, including the following :-
Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima – approx 9km from Tavira and 5km from
Cabanas. These are two adjoining courses of great character. Both are 18 hole par 72 courses with
driving range and wonderful views of mountains and sea. Running through
the stunning layout is a series of lakes
connected by a stream, skilfully incorporated as an added challenge to players,
together with centuries old olive and carob
trees. Cima, 6,585 metres, is perfect for the more experienced player;
whilst Ria, 6,016 metres,
will be enjoyed by every level of player. A new 18 hole par 71 course,
5,265 metres, in a beautiful setting overlooking the mountains, sea and river. There is also a driving
range and chipping & putting greens.
Monte Rei Golf – approx 16km from Tavira and 12km from
Cabanas. This stunning course, 7,197 metres par 72, is one of the newest and most prestigious on the Algarve, designed by Jack
Nicklaus. The first 18 holes opened early 2007. Quinta do Vale Golf – approx 30km from Tavira and 26km from
Cabanas. A wonderful new 18-hole course designed by Severiano Ballesteros and considered a strong candidate for hosting important
international championships. Designed to attract golfers of every level, this course has stunning views over the Guadiana
River and the hills around the Spanish border. The course is enhanced by numerous dogleg holes, wide fairways and obstacles,
all set in breathtaking surroundings. Lots of other courses in the western Algarve and western Spain are also within easy reach – mostly less than an hour's drive from Tavira and Cabanas. | ||
